The cause of such phenomenal health and longevity has led to extensive studies worldwide and attributed to several factors: The low levels of cholesterol in a Japanese person due to their healthy Japanese diet and the hordes of beneficial bacteria lurking in the intestines of every Japanese person, leading them to have one of the most efficient digestive systems.

The human body is made up of around ten trillion cells, but we harbor a hundred trillion bacteria. For every gene in our genome, there are 100 bacterial ones.
